Inspiring confidence in your hearing

A Common Problem

More than 10% of the population has significant hearing loss. A few people are born with impaired hearing, while others develop a hearing loss after working in noisy environments or as a result of disease or pathology. Most hearing losses in adults are caused by a lifetime of noise exposure and natural aging.

The Ear and the Brain

Hearing loss is difficult to "fix" because of the relationship between the ear and the brain. In contrast to common eye problems like astigmatism, where 20/20 vision may be achieved simply by adding a lens (glasses or contacts), most serious hearing problems involve damage to the nerves that transmit sound to the brain. Damaged acoustic nerves can't be repaired. But although even the most advanced hearing aids can't restore your hearing, they can improve it considerably. If you invest the necessary time and energy into acquiring and adjusting to professionally fitted hearing instruments, the quality of your life will almost certainly change for the better.
