Protection from sound and water is significant to ‘ear health’

Posted on October 22, 2016

It is necessary to protect your ears while at work, at home or during entertainment. Almost everyone needs customized ear plugs at some time or the other. Motor sports enthusiasts, regular swimmers, avid water-sports people, musicians, frequent fliers or employees working in a factory with deafening noise around, surely do not want to cause irreversible damage to their hearing ability. There are plenty of ear plugs available commercially in Canada, but when it comes to comfort nothing can beat a custom-made ear mold which fits snugly in the ear. For every purpose, they are designed differently and users need to choose carefully.

Thanks to advanced technology, ear plugs have undergone a great change over the years. They come in custom-made designs, varied colors and materials for different purposes. Fit to order, pre molded and reusable, the number of ear plug styles is increasing. They are used not only to keep noise at bay while awake but also to get peaceful sleep.

Swim plugs are the best way to protect your ears from water

Just as it is important to protect your ear from noise, keeping it safe from water is significant too. Ear plugs not only protect the ears from water but also block noise when some peace and quiet is desired while swimming.

Water getting inside the inner ear can lead to annoying ear infections, swimmers’ ear and other health related issues. When water gets inside the ears, it mostly drains out on its own. However, in several instances it may take several days to clear off. It can be annoying and dangerous too. Ear infections are common when water enters the ear canal and creates a perfect environment for bacteria to thrive in. Itching, swelling, pain, redness, rashes and a feeling of loss of balance can be signs of an ear infection.

It goes without saying, with summer at the heels in Niagara, people spend a lot of time in the pool. Indoors or outdoors, professionals or novices, the size of the pool is not important, but protecting your ear is! For swimmers, surfers or water-sport enthusiasts, there is an immediate need for swim plugs. It is not only adults who need to take care of steering clear of water entering their ears, but kids too. Children of all ages can use swim plugs and many other affordable options.

Aqua blue, pretty pink, rosy red or lime green, custom-made swim plugs come in a wide color palette. There are fun colors for kids and for adults there are plenty of neutral shades. lt is easy to take care of them. These are generally long-lasting. But kids might need a new size as they grow older. Even if one is using a custom-fitted swimmer mold, it is important to remember that occasional ear cleaning is indispensible. It is essential to remove ear wax at regular intervals.
